Crochet Cthulhu…

Last week I finally decided to venture into the world of amigurumi. I wish I’d done it sooner to be honest. It seems that it wasn’t my abilities that held me back, but rather my confidence. All in all he only took me about 2 days (if that) to do, not very long at all and once finished I gave him to my Lovecraft obsessed best friend as an early Christmas present. I’m trying to take my knitting/crochet skills up a notch and I’ve found YouTube to be an excellent pit stop whenever I’m stuck. The pattern for the Cthulhu can be found here.

A Little Heart…

I crocheted this little heart last week as it seemed a pretty good way to practice how to increase and decrease stitches. It took less than an hour to make and although it has a few mistakes I don’t think it’s that bad for a first attempt. Once finished I gave it to my boyfriend as a thank you for making me a cuppa and for looking after me as I was a bit ill last week (awwwww – hahahahaha). I still feel run down and am not exactly 100% but I’m back on the multivitamins and trying to eat better so hopefully that’ll change soon.

The pattern for the heart can be found for free here.

The Big Knit 2009…

I didn’t get as many hats as I wanted to do for The Big Knit but I did some (well 5) and that’s all that matters in the end. Since I’ve started knitting with some form of regularity I’ve noticed that compared to most I’m a really slow knitter. I’m wondering if speed is something that comes with experience or is this it. I used double pointed needles for the first time whilst knitting one of the hats as an experiment and although fiddly to do, makes the finished object look a lot more “professional” in my opinion. The pink hat shown below was my favourite.

My cat Lemmy.

Whilst on the same subject I stumbled across this video by a French band called Trichot Machine (which is knitting machine in French I do believe) on YouTube. It’s made entirely from knitted frames (I can make out around 718 at the end). I bet it took an absolute age to make.
