The Ouroboros…

I stumbled on a website today that showed a photo of a ladies tattoo of an Ouroboros. Along with the entry it showed photos of a real life Ouroboros scenario with a lizard in the same position and I know all about the positive aspects of the ancient symbol but in honesty I do find this phenomenon disturbing.

Reason why is that many years ago I used to have a pet Ameiva called Bootzilla who in fairness was a bit of a psycho. We had an understanding where if I didn't mess with him he wouldn't mess with me and although I used to receive the odd bite from him now and again I loved him to bits. He was a really colourful lizard but one day I found him dead in his vivarium adopting the Ouroboros position biting his tail. What else was pretty disturbing was that the heat in his viv or the crickets that I'd gave him for breakfast had either eaten or shriveled up his eyes so there was pretty much empty eye sockets staring up at me as well. I had no idea what had happened because he was fine (to me) when I went to work that morning. So in the space of 11-12 hours that had happened to my beloved pet lizard and ever since then the symbol has really struck a chord with me. Does anyone else have similar experiences with pet reptiles or with any other symbols?

My Gaff…

I'm currently going through a big of a life laundry and redecorating of my flat.  I've lived here over 4 years and in all of that time I've only every redecorated the kitchen and bathroom.  I also own far too much junk.  I have no idea how long it'll take me to complete the whole flat but self improvement is an ongoing goal so they say.  I spent most of this week going through my bathroom and throwing out old toiletries (like 8 year old bottles of body lotion - ewww).  I also spent most of this weekend de-cluttering and re-decorating my bedroom.  It took some work but the results are most definitley worth it.  There's just the hallway (including my study area) and living room to do.  The local charities are going to love me.
